Along EDSA, here are views of the sidewalks of Guadalupe in Makati City as of September 2011. This is near Sogo Hotel and Guadalupe MRT Station.
Guadalupe used to be okay, but nowadays, the streets are lined and occupied by street vendors and snatchers, and thieves. So so sad... The efforts of the previous MMDA administration to clean up the place has been wasted by the current MMDA administration by allowing street vendors to display their wares there all day. If they must do that, can't they do it only on weekends or only after 8pm? At least the streets would be tidy and clear during the day. Now, it's no longer safe to even walk the sidewalks, or what's left of it even in broad daylight because a thief might just open your bag while you're squeezing your way through the street vendors carts and display shelves.
Shops already occupied the sidewalks, and people now have to push their way, or go around carts just to continue on their way. What if you're walking with a large bag or luggage around? It would be so tiring to keep bumping people and stuff. Ugh! What's happening in Manila?
Just see the pictures to understand what I'm talking about. Oh, and see that buses are now standing by longer than necessary to pick up passengers. Tsk tsk tsk!
