Oh yeah, that's what he said to me earlier today, I have to attend the mating at midnight.
I was like, "What!? Can you say that again?"
Slowly he looked at me and said with a smile, "You have to attend the mating at midnight, scheduled by Grant. About the User Acceptance Training (UAT), you know..."
"Ahh, a MEE-TING. I thought I heard you say something else."
Understanding dawned on him and his cheeks start to color. He was blushing as he realized his pronunciation has made the meaning of his words a bit more interesting.
The "mating" was over now as it ended at 1:30am Malaysia Time (10:30am PST) so I thought I should share the laugh with you all :)
Mispronunciation is very common in the Philippines, Almost all dialects in the country has a distinguished way of mispronouncing some English words. It's not something racial or offensive already to Filipinos but it a part already of daily life humors.
